Workshops with Peter Kay

On February 20, 21 and 22, 2009, Peter Kay, one of Master Herman Kauz’s premier senior students, gave us a rock 'em, sock 'em series of presentations.

He demonstrated softness, sensitivity and a wealth and depth of knowledge about the workings of the human body and the theraputic effects and uses of T'ai Chi Ch'uan and Ch'i Kung.

We thank Peter for his time and effort and hope he will have time and energy to return soon to review the stuff he left behind this time and lead us farther forward in the direction he and his mentor, Master Herman Kauz, so enthusiastically espouse.  That would be, like, being present in the moment, like, now, and being sensitive to your own and your partner's energy system, like.

A senior student of Master Kauz, Peter Kay has been teaching T’ai Chi since 1980.  He counts among his profound influences a deep friendship with Master Jou, Tsung-Hwa.  Peter teaches T'ai Chi at Piedmont Community College, NC, and at the Person County Council on Aging, in Roxboro, N.C.

Peter works as a physical therapist assistant recruited by Duke University Medical Center to treat and teach people how to move.  He says, “I find T’ai Chi an excellent modality for this, relevant for neurological insults such as CVA, auto immune diseases, and orthopedic injuries.  My current interests include using ch’i kung healing following Traditional Chinese Medicine five element theory.”
